Critical Thinking

To begin, I really enjoyed the effective communication module as Professor Brad was approachable when I had enquires about my work, and he always engaged the class throughout the two hours of the lesson. I set two goals for myself to achieve at the end of the module, the first of which was to become a  more confident speaker, and the second was to learn to write a proper academic paper.  Looking at how Professor Brad conducted the lessons, he made sure to call on us so that we were able to speak out during the lesson. By randomly calling us out, it pushes individuals like myself who avoid talking to gain the ability to speak with confidence. As a result, I trained myself to collect my thoughts quickly when presented with the opportunity to speak in front of the class. I believe what distinguishes a great speaker is the ability to recover quickly from stutters, which necessitates the ability to think on one's feet, which translates to confidence.  Secondly, I learned how to wr

Soul Of Communications

Communication in the workplace is critical for businesses to operate smoothly and effectively. I believe that employees who can communicate within a company will have higher morale, resulting in an increase in productivity and ultimately a devotion to the organization. From my experiences, these qualities can be built when the employers invest time and effort in establishing open channels of communication with their employees. Insufficient or weak communication processes will result in unmotivated employees who will begin to doubt their abilities and the company they work for. Employees who interact successfully with their co-workers, bosses, and customers, on the other hand, remain significant assets to a firm. In order for a successful interaction, I believe critical thinking is to be applied. This enables the individuals to provide precise and transparent context when conversing. This aids the targeted audience to better understand the thought process behind the message. In

Though lifesaving backpack technology, such as drones are not new, they are not as accessible to firefighters. Therefore, professors at the Georgia State University aim to develop better drones to fight wildfires more effectively. Their drone—named KHawk is designed to fly autonomously with ground control while transmitting weather data, including forecasts of where the flames will spread next. The U.S. Department of Interior (DOI) started flying drone missions in 2010 with about 200 total flights. DOI plans to expand the drone fleeting mission and began the first use of UAS for aerial ignition operations. The main concept of using the intentional ignition approach is to set a fire which burns back towards the main fire line, ultimately depriving the main fire line of adequate fuel to go forward, starving the flames, and putting them out.  Drone Amplified, a company based in Lincoln, Nebraska, developed the IGNIS drone payload system. Soon, remotely piloted aircraft will play an in

Formal Self Introduction Letter

Dear Professor Brad, Allow me to introduce myself. I am Soh Jun Yang from tutorial group 6, and I am currently taking your module, effective communication. I graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a Diploma in Aerospace Engineering with Business Management. As a young child, I was always fascinated by planes and how they can take flight, at the same time having the ability to navigate in the air without signboards or traffic lights to aid their destination. This had led me to pursue a diploma with relation to aeronautics. With the knowledge I gained from taking my diploma, I wish to further expand my understanding of the fourth industrial revolution by taking my degree in mechanical engineering. Throughout my time in polytechnic, I felt that my communication strength is being open-minded. Any good communicator should enter any conversation (be it work or personal) with a flexible and open mind. For instance, while I was interning in ST Aerospace, I was placed under the quality as
